![]() Personally I apply a black acrylic coat of paint to the entire ship first to act as a primer, it also improves the overall finish later. I am very pedantic about my ship models as I've built and painted them, as well as aircraft, tanks, infantry and warhammer too, since I was about ten years old. If someone want to see pictures of that rather dated ship model, feel free to ask. I would be very grateful for any kind of advice. I realise this post got rather long as I waffled on, but I hope somebody that are into this hobby could give me some advice (I fund rather little on Google on how to paint ship models, especially with brushes). THerefore I'm wondering how people usually paint these ships? I've gathered that you usually assemble the superstructure and hull, and then give these a paintjob, and then deal with the details as you go, but I have no clue as to if it's necessary to apply a primer, and which type of paint to use (acryllics, oil, etc) and whether or not just using brushes will lead to a good result. So aren't there any good kit builders left that use the 1:500isch scale?įurthermore, I have never been one to paint the plastic model, simply due to lack of money in my childhood. However, I found out afterwards that the usual scale nowdays are 1:350 (too large) or 1:700 (too small). Two days later and it was assembled, and I had quite a bit of fun whilst doing it. Having an old Gneisenau model laying about (Revell, 1:570, got it 10 years ago) I decided to finish that one. During the ridiculously bad weather this Easter in Norway, I started to dabble with this hobby again. In my childhood I was a somewhat active scale plastic modeller. ![]()
